Topological Order Learning seminar
Spring 2022 (online)
This is a MIT learning seminar on topological orders.
The usual time for the seminar is Thursday 1:00 PM - 2:00 EST at MIT. We don't have a set meeting place but the Low's seminar room seems to be free. Here's a google doc for talks and topics and questions.
-
Organization meeting
-
Lattice models, toric code, and anyons
Prox
Talks about lattice model and toric code, superselection sectors and anyons.
-
Levin-Wen String net condensation.
Group
We will watch Michael Levin's CMSA talk on it on our own and then talk about it in the group meeting.
-
SPT, anomalies, and bordisms
Leon
Leon will talk about classificiation of anomalies and SPT, starting from group chomology to bordism invariants.
-
Higher form symmetries
Sal
Sal will talk about what higher form symmetries are and do the examples of 1-form symmetry in toric code.
-
Anyon Condensation
Cameron
Cam will talk about Anyon condensation following Kong's paper, together with example from Kitaev-Kong.
-
Band theory and Euler class
Abby
Abby will talk about the Euler topology of band structures and how it characterizes nonabelian Weyl nodes.
-
Topological entanglement entropy
Arkya
On Topological entanglement entropy.
-
Topological holographic duality
Arkya
Prep talk
-
Dan Sandwich
Leon
Reviewed over Dan's CMSA talk on Dan's Sandwich.
-
Automorphism of the Toric Code
Cameron
Talked about the Toric code, Honeycomb and how to get a family of gapped Hamiltonian that swaps e and m.
-
Review
Review the semester and started the list of ideas for next year.
